Comment on Screenwriting on a Chromebook Part 3 by R. http://ricardo-sanchez.com/2014/12/screenwriting-chromebook-part-3/#comment-2138 Tue, 02 Feb 2016 23:07:05 +0000 http://ricardo-sanchez.com/?p=2091#comment-2138 It was written a while ago, but I still disagree with you. I’ve updated both of those two WinBooks to 10 and they are superior writing platforms. You can certainly get Chromebooks that are better bits of computing hardware, but there aren’t a lot of great writing apps for Linux (Scrivener being my required app.) The post was less about are Chromebooks better than WinBooks, but which is better for writing. I’m sticking by my assertion that these two machines are vastly superior writing tools than any Chromebook.

Comment on Screenwriting on a Chromebook Part 3 by Matt http://ricardo-sanchez.com/2014/12/screenwriting-chromebook-part-3/#comment-2136 Mon, 25 Jan 2016 20:47:19 +0000 http://ricardo-sanchez.com/?p=2091#comment-2136 I don’t know when this was written but the Chromebook shits on those two laptops. I suppose if you wanted something purely for writing they might be better but the chromebook has a bunch of utility past just writing. If i was going to pass on a chromebook I’d consider just a tablet with a wireless keyboard, also because of the additional utility. And if you really want your Chromebook to be a bonafide computer you can install Linux on it, because it is a bonafide computer that leans toward internet and app based utilization.

I’ve had three Chromebooks over the years and everyday there’s more potential becoming reality and more recognition of future potential with these little beasts. Also the ability to run Android apps on the Chromebooks now really is the trump card.

Those other computers are far from Chromebook killers and while there is not much downside to $200 for any machine I think you want to get the most out of that $200 and not pigeon hole yourself into something that literally does one thing for you.

Being able to open a .scriv file and viewing the draft’s structure is exactly what I was looking for, so I’ll give it a try.

ps: it’d be nice to add a link to the app (you probably intended to do so and missed it :))

I agree about the backlight that it is a great add on with the zagg.
